an early morning drive to the grocery store. this is what you can expect. cloudy at the coast. partly cloudy elsewhere and we do still have the hazardous waves at the beaches until 10:00 a.m. we will talk about this and what you can expect for your sunday. and i have rain back in the forecast. back to you. it is super bowl sunday. anticipation is brimming from the bay area to the bayou, and we will be outside the superdome where they will set the scene for us. the 49ers are at the team hotel. and in two to three hours, they will take a bus to the stadium. jim harbaugh led the players in a 15 minute walk through inside the dome. that's the video you are seeing there. he wanted the team to get used to playing on the surface as well as looking at the lights. >> players were allowed to bring their families to watch. one person actually shod who

victory. alex savage is live where the muni service is being affected. >> they are expecting an inconvenience later on today and they understand why the changes are put into place. once the game gets going. you won't be able to find muni buses on market street. they took the historic street cars out of service. this is after a car was destroyed after a world series celebration. the mta is hoping to avoid a replay after the super bowl ends tonight. whether they win or lose. muni buses will be detoured starting at 5:00 in the mild of the game. it will be shifted over to mission street. they are urging passengers to use the underground service through downtown. i talked to one man who is making muni to work and he is

worried about how he will get home. >> any time it is 5 inches away, they are impacted. i use muni. and i use shoes walking and taking long distances. it is a nice event hopefully. but, it is for the people. they have to commute back and forth to work and home. >> reporter: mta has taken electric buses out of circulation today. along with the muni changes, the san francisco police department will have extra police officers object patrol today. mostly the marina. south of market. businesses of course bracing for problems. and we bring you out here live. it is not just muni impacted. but san francisco's historic cable cars will be taken out of service again. they will be using buses. >> we are live this morning in

san francisco. ktvu channel 2 news. they are showing the big game on the big screen. the barboa theater -- balboa and livermore is is holding a free watch party today. they will get to hang out with a couple of former 49ers today. >> one time stubblefield will be at the break lounge in san francisco. others include dwayne board and junior bryant. 60 guests will be spending the day with the past super bowl champs. there are still a few tickets left to the super bowl. that is if you can afford it and make it out in the next eight hours. >> the prices they are going for and what they are doing to crackdown on counter fits. switch to two for a local live post game show.

>> happening now. 15 homes without power. a car lost control and hit a pole. it is near bancroft and seminary avenues. the driver did refuse medical attention. it is still unclear if he faces charges. this is the third accident at the intersection in recent months. we are told power will be restored until later tonight because there aren't that many on duty for super bowl sunday. they rescued three children from a novato apartment. they say the children were in the bedroom when the fire started and then went out on the balcony where they were rescued. >> they were not hurt. they believe an unattended pot on a stove started that fire. this is the bar track that is shut down two east bay stations turned out to be harmless. the suspicious object was spotted about noon yesterday.

they right now? >> reporter: first of all, up until now. >> streets are crowded and to him it is a major event. and now they have seen movie stars. now, they are not sure. is this what the super bowl is all about. in their mind they are focused and ready. they are not sure. when it becomes a game, the game they played. and the game they grew up with. and used to play when they were five years old. it becomes that when the whistle blows. it goes from an event to an actual game and now they are in the stage where they are not sure, but they are going to prevail pretty good because harbaugh will get them ready. >> how much will it play in the superdome. part of the walk through, was that get in your head. i know harbaugh wanted them to have a feel for it and just get the game face ready. you think it will play a factor of playing in the superdome.

it. and people from all over the world. from australia. and cities. and you would think they wouldn't even like the 49ers. they were in the streets going crazy. this morning, it was the calm before the storm. extreme hangovers or something. it went from being a zyesterday to -- zoo yesterday to today. >> thank you for joining us. we will check in with you in a little bit. . >> the face value of tickets range from 850 to $1,250. we found an advent russ 49er fan who flew to new orleans the last minute. he spent $2,300 on a ticket from a broker inside the tourism office. >> i had a pocketful of cash and would rather do it with a legitimate ticket broker and getting a real ticket. we found a good seat.

i am going to the super bowl. well, federal agents confiscated counterfeit tickets sold on the street. their investigation began friday when they searched a car bound for new orleans. it turned up 50 phony tickets averaging a thousand dollars a pop. people can buy tickets on line. stub hub, they are going 1200 to 9,000 for a pair of tickets to a suite. superdome will hold close to 73,000 spectators today. they were allotted $13,000 each for the teams. this will happen before kickoff. they will honor victims of the connecticut school shooting. the staff and children were killed and now 26 survivors are in new orleans to sing america the beautiful. they will perform before alicia keys sings the national anthem.

. mayor bloomberg's group, mayors against gun will air the 30 second spot today in washington d.c., it calls on lawmakers and nra to support background checks. the executive vice president told lawmakers that his organization no longer has background checks for the gun sales. >> this is the skeet shooting. it was taken in august at camp david. it was released in response to people who doubted whether they had gone shooting and told the magazine that he enjoys the sport. >> they responded to the photo saying it does notary race a lifetime of bans. he wrote the best selling book american sniper was shot and killed at a gun range in

texas. chris kyle and another man were found dead. the gunman shot the men and fled in the pickup truck. they arrest add 25-year-old suspect who is now charged with murder and did not release a motive. kyle's books detail the 125 sniper kills and the most in u.s. history. in boston. more than 30 high school students and their chaperones were hurt after their tour bus hit an overpass. it happened 7:30 last night as they were going back to pennsylvania. the bus tried to pass under the bridge and it was too tall to clear it. several passengers were trapped on the bus for more than an hour. firefighters had to pull many of them out through the roof. >> we were in the back. and in the bathroom in the back of the bus came into the back seat. >>

hayward. this is new video from the scene inale county. >> they were -- in alameda county. no word on whether any suspects have been caught. we know more about the teenager killed and dumped in a fairfield park. the girl was 13 years old. she reportedly had been strangled. now her body was found without clothes early friday morning. they spoke with the man who saw the girl's body and he called the police. he couldn't believe what he saw. >> the closer i got, the more real she looked. i got up to her and i was like, oh, my god, that's a human being. >> ktvu learned she was a foster child who attended middle school. she lived with a guardian. and they have not released her name. they say. they have 30 investigators on the case and have some good leads. but they are asking for more

information from the public in order to make an arrest. two monthly cultural events in oakland are concerned about public safety. 17-year-old boy was gunned down on telegraph avenue. three other people including another teenager were also wounded. it happened hours after the art murmur walk and the first friday street festival. gallery owners say it attracts tens of thousands of visitors and provide a positive change. >> this is disappointing. >> we are a community trying to come together. and we are trying to promote local businesses. and helping each other in the community. the art murmur website offered its condolences to the victims' family. that was chianti of oakland. this is part of a pilot

alex savage is live for us in san francisco, where eager fans are at restaurants that haven't even opened yet but first, let's head to k.t.v.u.'s joe fonzi who is live in new orleans, better known today as san francisco south. joe, you said yesterday, let's just play this thing. i am so excited. is everyone feeling nervous? what is the energy like there? >> reporter: well, it's kind of early here, still but you know, with all the buildup that happens, it's easy to forget sometimes that it's the main event is a three and a half hour football game that will get played about six hours from now. we've heard about all the buildup. probably the biggest theme is the two brothers opposing each other in the super bowl. obviously that's never happened before in super bowl history. ray lewis, the linebacker for the baltimore ravens, playing in his final game. one way or the other, and possibly passing the torch to patrick willis. also, you know, how will the ravens handle colin kaepernick. those are all the things that are talked about. we've pretty much talked them to death. the only thing left to do is hear from the experts about who they think will win today's game. >> i mean i'm going with the

at the drake lounge in san francisco. th ex-49ers include defensive lineman duane board and junior bryant. about 60 guests will spend the day with them. and today, remember to switch to 2 right after the game for the live local post game show. we are following developing news from the peninsula. we just got an emergency alert from the san mateo county sheriff's department about a major water main break in the city of millbray in the area of magnolia avenue and jasmine court. the break is affecting water pressure throughout the city of millbray. workers are trying to make repairs but there is no estimate on when service will be back to normal. in overnight news, three people were being treated for stab wounds after a vicious attack in the east bay. it happened just about four hours go on smiley afternoon near princeton street in the cherry lane area between san lorenzo and hayward. sheriff deputies found all three victims at the same place. one of them was stabbed four times in the back and once in

the shoulder. two were transported to eden medical center in castro valley. the third is being treated at highland. no word on whether any suspects have been caught. also happening right now, 15 homes are in the dark in oakland after a driver lost control, came up onto the sidewalk, and hit a power pole. it happened around 3:00 this morning. the driver refused medical attention, and police questioned him, but it is still unclear if he is going to face any charges. neighbors say this is the third accident at that intersection in recent months, and pg&e said those neighbors may not have power until later tonight, because they are so short on this super bowl sunday. firefighters rescued 3 children from a burning apartment in navarro. it all happened around 5:30 last night on green oaks drive. firefighters say that children were in a bedroom when the fire started, but they then went out onto a balcony where they were rescued. the children weren't hurt, and

right now investigators believe an unattended pot on the stove started that fire. a suspicious package on bart tracks shut down two east bay stations but it turned out to be harmless. the suspicious object was supported on the tracks at the ill cerito del norte station at about noon. the walnut creek police bomb squad was shut in, and both the station and richmond station were shut down while police checked it out. if >> the suspicion item that is -- is not explosive material. >> the station's reopened about two hours later. passengers took buss to get around the closure until the bomb squad gave the all clear. it's a mostly cloudy start over san jose at this hour. you can see blanketed with the clouds, seeing some sunshine at the coast, so a mix of sun and clouds around the bay area at this hour. hazardous waves continue across the coast from north bay into santa cruz. that lasting -- or monterey lasting for the next hour or

dangers of sneaker waves for both dogs and pet owners. a former navy seal who wrote the best selling book american sniper was shot and killed at a gun range in texas. 38-year-old chris kyle and another man were found dead yesterday eastern. investigators say the gunman shot the men and fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims. police later arrested a 25-year- old suspect who is charged with murder, but police have not released a motive. kyle's book details his 160 sniper kills of insurgents in iraq. reportedly the most in u.s. history. continuing our coverage of the 49ers' quest for 6. they won their last super bowl 18 years ago against the chargers in miami. quarterback steve young was voted most valuable player. he threw for 6 touchdown passes, and like joe, never threw an interception. three of those touchdowns landed in the hands that night, in the arms of jerry rice. a fellow hall of famer. the niners wiped out the chargers 49-26. on a ticket from a broker inside the city's tourism office >> i had a pocket full of cash but i'd much rather do it with a legitimate ticket broker and know i'm getting a real ticket than the counterfeits out there. we've found a good seat and i'm going to the super bowl. yea! >> federal agents confiscated counterfeit tickets sold on the streets of new orleans yesterday. their investigation began on friday when authorities stopped a car bound from new orleans. a search turned up more than 50 phoney tickets and they averaged $1000 a pop. well, people can still buy tickets online. tickets are on stub hub and going between 1200 buckets to $900 -- or 9000, rather for a pair of tickets to a suite. the super dome holds close to 73,000 people. the 49ers and the ravens were allotted 13,000 tickets each. well, super bowl sunday isn't just the biggest day of the year for football fans and advertisers. it is also one of the busiest days of the year for pizza chains.

there's a beautiful shot this morning for you of the super dome in new orleans this morning. we have been giving you fun facts and trivia all morning long. here is another one for you. san francisco does have experienced players on the roster who have played in a prior super bowl. who are they? randy moss. wide receiver. he played for the patriots in 2007. linebacker clark hagan. steelers in 2005. and then kicker david akers for the 2004 eagles >> and the eagles aren't big fans of david akers, let's hope it doesn't come down to a kick today. let's talk about another news this marc. we have an update on a series story. there is a funeral held today for the alabama school bus driver who did die while trying to protect children from a gunman. police say a man named jimmily dykes shot charles poled on tuesday and kidnapped a five- year-old boy off of that bus and he had been holding that boy hostage in an underground bunker for six days now. people held a prayer vigil yesterday for the boy. and the f.b.i. has been trying to negotiate

it. so between now and then we'll have dry conditions. i enjoy the sunny weather, but we could use some rain. we have temperatures seasonal for this time of year. even slightly above as we get into monday afternoon. then we're cooling it back down tuesday into wednesday. have a system that will pull through. at this point it doesn't look like it's going to bring us any rain. cool us down just a bit and on thursday, our first chance in a while of seeing some rain. and it's going to be a cold storm. it will feel like winter all of a sudden. mid 50s in the forecast for the afternoon. and low sierra snow as well as a dusting over our local hills. the super bowl is still a little more than six hours away, but a member of the 49er family is already looking forwards next year a bit. former owner eddie debarlow, jr. was not selected to the pro football hall of fame yesterday. he will have to hope for next year to be inducted. former 49er charles haley and former oakland raider wide receiver tim brown did not make it either but former dallas cowboy and 49er guard larry allen out of sonoma state did get selected in his first year

>> reporter: yeah, they won't open for quite some time, but we are already seeing a ton of faithful 49ers fans. these are the folks. they came down here early this morning to try and stake out a spot to watch the super bowl here at pedro's cantina, right across the street from at&t park. you see everyone decked out and all the 49ers gear. some focus even brought their lawn chairs here, and many of these people tell me they were here since 7:30 this morning. this is susie. she's front of the line here at -- >> woohoo! >> pete's tavern. that's right. you're front of the line. you got here what? before 8:00 this morning? >> i got here like 7:50 to be exact. >> why come down here so early? >> because i am a huge sports fan and this is super bowl. niners are in. we have to represent. >> do you to the niners do today? how does this all end today? >> we're going to destroy them. we're going to crush them. the city is going to go wild and crazy. >> but not too raze, right? >> not too crazy. a good happy time, no riots, please. everyone let's just enjoy the game. >> thank you very much, susie. >> reporter: the south of

these folks are down here very early. six hours away from kickoff still. but they're psyched for the big game. live this morning in san francisco, alex savage, ktvu channel 2 news. san francisco police have advised a large group of ravens fans to ax its plans for a big super bowl party in the city and the group ravens in the fog announced on facebook that it has cancelled the viewing party planned at a bar in the mission district. group leaders say police told them they should call it off because officers could not guarantee their safety. if you haven't noticed them already. police, sheriff deputies and highway patrol officers are fanning out looking for drunk drivers. their d.u.i. crack-down includes sew bright checkpoints and saturation patrols on highways and several cities. they say crashes causing injury or death go up 41% on super bowl sunday. many san francisco fans spent half of their weekend getting party supplies in order. the s.t. party supply store was busy selling balloons and beads to the 49er faithful.

managers told ktvu anything, anything that was red and gold was selling out from their store. the niners helped them double their usual super bowl weekend sales. and we ran into nancy garrels who was one of many party hosts shopping at that store. >> having a little get together, about 15, 20 people, maybe. i'm just excited for this game. you know, the niners haven't been in the super bowl in so long. >> the pizza place says it will double the number of delivery drivers today and double the number of staff at its restaurants as well. managers are expecting people to come out early. we saw it when alex savage showed us the shot in san francisco. people are already in line, because you do want a gutted spot for that game -- good spot for that game even when you have a big screen. in other 49er news, a player will take sensitivity training after making anti-gay remarks. cornerback chris culver has already apologized for telling a radio shock jacque that gay players weren't allowed in

49ers locker rooms but he says he is also planning to talk to a los angeles group that counsels lesbian and gay teens. he adds he does not want to run from this issue, but is going to take the opportunity to learn and grow as a person. a lawsuit filed by three former employees of a venture capital firm started by former 49ers could have major implications for silicon valley. the lawsuit claims former employees of h.r.j. capital were cheated out of 10s of millions of dollars when a bank seized the firm's assets four years ago. former 49ers including joe montana helped found h.r.j. capital. analysts say the case could have implications for other venture capital firms if h.r.j.'s investors are forced to pay damages. many silicon valley start-ups rely on funds from syncher capital firms. we are following developing news on the peninsula. an emergency alert from the san mateo county sheriff's department about a major water main break in millbray. it's in the area of magnolia avenue and jasmine court. it's affecting water pressure throughout the city of

millbray. workers are there trying to make repairs and there is no estimate on when service will be back to normal. new information now regarding the teenager killed and left in a fairfield park two days ago. police say the girl was just 13 years old, and had reportedly been strangled. ktvu spoke with a man who says he called police after finding her body in allen wit park early friday morning. >> the closer i got, the more real she looked. and it's like i got up to her, and it's like oh, my god. that's a human being. >> ktvu has also learned the girl was a foster child who attended green valley middle school. she lived with a guardian in sassoon city. police are not releasing her name but tell us they have 30 investigators working in this case. they say they do have some good leads, but are also asking anyone with any information about this crime to call police. two monthly cultural events in oakland will continue, but organizers say they are concerned about public safety,

in the wake of a deadly shooting. a 17-year-old boy was gunned down late friday night on telegraph avenue. three other people, including another teenager, were also wounded. shootings happened just hours after the art murmur gallery walk and first friday street festival. local artists and gallery owners say the events attract 10s of thousands of visitors which create jobs and provide a positive change. >> this is disappointing, because it's like you know, we're community trying to come together, and trying to promote local businesses, and helping each other in the community. >> the art murmur website offered its condolences to the families of the victims. the tribune identified the teenager killed as keonte campbell of oakland. oakland police are investigating a bold a.t.m. robbery. it happened around 3:00 yesterday morning near lake merit at the chevron gas station. this is at grande avenue and perkins street. now a clerk say 2 men walked up to the counter. one of them asked for the price

of a candy bar while the other man looped the end of the chain that he was holding over the a.t.m. that was actually attached, then, to the bumper of his car. the machine was yanked off the wall. it's not clear how much money was stolen. drivers in oakland will get a break when it comes to parking fees. it's part of a pilot program by the city. officials are hoping the reduced parking rates are going to draw people to oakland's china town just in time for the lunar new year which starts on february 10th. the pacific renaissance plaza parking garage will charge a flat rate of $2 from 5 until 11 p.m. during the week and those reduced prices are going to be in effect until further notice. well, say farewell to coin- operated parking meters in san francisco. the city is upgrading its parking system and wants to do away with those old models of plunking coins into the machines. the san francisco examiner reports 30,000 meters throughout the city could be replaced with the newer technology. and it could all happen this fall under a new proposal. the new meters will take

prevented the 2010 tragedy in tucson that injured his wife. the entire enter view airs on fox news sunday at 10 this morning. texas governor rick perry says the boy scouts of america should keep its policy against gay members. >> scouting is about teaching a substantial amount of life lessons. sexuality is not one of them. it never has been, it doesn't need to be. >> governor perry spoke out at a texas boy scouts meeting in austin. the governor is an eagle scout. he says he believes most people see no reason for change. scouting leaders are reconsidering the policy. a national discussion on the issue began after leaders decided a gay east bay member could not be an eagle scout. eighth graders in our state will no longer be required to take algebra. the state board of education says eighth graders will now have a choice between taking algebra 1 or an alternate math course. supporters say the algebra requirement caused some eighth graders to struggle academically, because they aren't prepared for higher math. but critics say success in

algebra 1 is the single best predictor for college graduation. well, if you need to fill up, prepare to dig a little deeper in your wallet, because gas prices in california did shoot up overnight to $3.90 a gallon. up 23 cents from a week ago. gas prices nationwide are at record highs for early february. and analysts say problems at refineries and speculation are to blame for driving those prices higher. so let's check out the prices in san francisco. you will have to pay 3.90 a gallon. in oakland, 3.84 is the average. and down in san jose, 3.85 is the price of gas. boeing's dream liner has been grounded but the batteries that sparked the fire on the 787 are still being flown as cargo on other airliners. boeing 787 dreamliners were grounded around the world after a battery fire three weeks ago. and in reports of smoke on a second plane. but the batteries can still be flown as cargo on passenger planes. some pilots and safety advocates are calling for the

transport of lithium batteries to be suspended until an n.t.s.b. investigation into the fires is completed. federal regulators are struggling to implement a new aviation safety law. the new regulations would increase the amount of experience necessary to be a pilot. they also call for more realistic pilot training, and a program where experienced captains mentor first officers. a government report says the f.a.a. has experienced lengthy delays in implementing the law, due to opposition from airlines. twitter and the companies entering commercials during the super bowl are asking viewers to tweet about their favorite ads. companies are paying about $4 million for a 30-second spot during this year's game. twitter's head of sports and entertainer says viewers can join in on the conversation about the ads most generating the biggest buzz. >> we have a program called an ad scrimmage, where we encourage, you know, the fans of these commercials to tweet about the commercials that they love the most.

>> companies hope online activity surrounding ads will eventually lead viewers their product pages. san jose based adobe systems says companies that advertise during the super bowl get a 20% increase in web traffic on game day. the san francisco giants are rooting for a 49er victory. it would mark the first time san francisco has title-winning teams in two major pro sports in the same season. the closest we got do it was back in 1989 when the a's won the world series after the niners won the super bowl. giants president larry baer says he hopes his guys can participate in a victory parade like when jim harbaugh and alex smith drove with the players back on halloween. san francisco's homeless are being invited to a special super bowl celebration. st. anthony's is serving up game day meals in its dining hall today. there is enough food for 3000 people, and on the menu, 49er hot dogs, and baked beans. >> and if you go to church before the big game today, you may see some of the priests
